The strand of lights tingles faintly with static electricity when touched, though nowhere near an amount that would cause anyone to come to harm. It's definitely separate from the tree, though even climbing the trunk won't get to all of it; most of the high parts of the strand are on outer branches. Looks like whoever put them up had a ladder.
