The problem with spirits is that you can't know what they can do before they do it. Same as with metahuman mages.
But it also might mean that they are weak, and Kitty wants to know this. So she breathes out calmly, concentrating, and then ...ah, there. She can't tell how to get through the distance, but she knows where it is now. That is a first step.
Maybe... she sighs, frowns in frustration and crosses her arms over her chest. It's not what she is looking for, most likely, more a metaplane.
And as interesting as that might be, she's frustrated by the thought that this might not only be something else than she thought that it is, but also that it is something that she seems to have no access to. And that this spirit is so terribly unhelpful.
She won't apply force to try and make it, but perhaps she can strike a deal? What kind of deal do you strike with spirits, though... She never looked into that. If she was convinced that this is what she was looking for all these days since coming here, she wouldn't care what the bargain might be, but as it is she isn't that desperate and figures that she shouldn't find out about it by offering just about anything. Especially when she has no back-up.
...She abruptly turns away and strolls into the opposite direction from the spirit Sure, she stays alert, not wanting the spirit to attack her unguarded back, but otherwise pretends that she never attempted to communicate with it, or go after it. As much as this revealed some information, all the information just points to one giant failure, and she thus will shy away from acknowledging it.
